A 4x4 hardwood board is what your load actually sits on. It spreads the weight off the bare deck, gives a coil rack something to bite into, and holds pipe and beams up where a chain can get under them. At 8 ft it spans wider than the 4 ft coil lumber, which is what you want under long pipe runs or steel beams that need support across a bigger gap.
It carries no working load limit and it is not a securement device. It supports and positions the load. Chains and straps still do the tie-down.
Eight feet is the reason this one does not ship UPS or FedEx. Parcel carriers charge oversize handling on anything that long, and the handling costs more than the board. There are two ways to get it instead.
Pick it up. We are in Huntley, IL, right off I-90, and the boards are in stock. Call ahead and we will have your count staged and ready to load straight onto your deck.
Or put them on a pallet. If you are already placing a larger order that moves by freight, the boards ride out on the same pallet. Tell us the delivery ZIP, how many boards, and what the unloading site looks like, and we come back with a real number rather than an estimate.
