HEADACHE RACKS
Two racks. The difference is what you need to store.
Both 68 x 80 aluminum, both fit sleeper and day cab. Open chain-and-tray at 160 lbs, or diamond plate with a lockable tool box at 220 lbs.
How To Choose
A headache rack does two jobs at once. It puts a barrier between your load and the back of the cab, and it gives chains, binders and dunnage somewhere to live instead of the deck.
We stock two, both 68 x 80 aluminum, both fitting sleeper and day cab. The difference is what you need to store. The open rack carries 28 chains across two hangers plus a full-width dunnage tray, and it weighs 160 lbs. The diamond plate model adds a lockable Mini-Vault tool box with three interior shelves, holds 24 chains, and runs 220 lbs.
Aluminum on both, and that is the reason to buy either one. It does not rust the way bare steel does under road salt, and the weight you save is weight you can haul. Both need 22" of catwalk clearance and mount without welding, using a U-bolt kit sized to your frame rail.
Headache racks are not front-end protection devices and do not meet FMCSA/DOT CFR 393.114a. Secure every load per CFR 393.100-393.132 regardless of what sits behind the cab. Install on trucks only, not on trailers.

“Got 2 4ft tarps and 2 8ft tarps for my husband’s birthday since he drives a flatbed. He’s been using them non-stop — says they’re the best tarps he’s ever had. They seriously withstand everything!”

“I purchased several items from Cargo Control Center, including tarps and chains. Driving in severe conditions and dealing with sharp and heavy cargo, I haven’t had any issues — no damage, no failures.”
