About This Product

The airbag tarp swaps vinyl sides for nylon fabric. Nylon has give, so where a vinyl side would snag on a load corner and split, the nylon stretches and slides off it. The top panel stays 14oz vinyl, because that surface needs to be waterproof and take abrasion.

At 71 lbs it is the lightest tarp in our lineup, and if weight were the only thing that mattered the decision would be easy.

Weight is not the only thing that matters, so here is the honest tradeoff. Nylon cannot be glued. If a side tears, you sew it, which means a shop or a needle and an evening, not a patch and twenty minutes at a truck stop. The RipStop weighs 76 lbs, five pounds more, and any tear anywhere on it fixes with a patch and a tube of HH-66 cement.

Buy this one if snagging is your problem and you have somewhere to sew. Buy the RipStop if you would rather repair it yourself on the road, the same evening it happens.

Key Features

Nylon Sides Shrug Off Snags
Nylon has give. Where vinyl would catch a load corner and split, nylon slides off it.
14oz Vinyl Top
The top panel stays waterproof vinyl, because that is the surface that takes weather.
71 lbs, Our Lightest
Five pounds under the RipStop. Read the repair note before that decides it.
3 Rows of D-Rings
Box-stitched onto seatbelt webbing. Bungee S-hooks clip here and run to your rub rail.

Best For

Load Type
Freight with corners and edges that snag and tear a vinyl side panel.
Repair Caveat
Nylon sides cannot be glued. A tear gets sewn, not patched on the road.
Consider Instead
RipStop is 5 lbs heavier and patches anywhere with glue at a truck stop.
Safety Tip

The nylon side panels cannot be repaired with vinyl cement. Glue will not bond to nylon fabric, so a torn side has to be stitched. Carry a repair kit that covers both materials, or plan on a shop visit. The vinyl top panel patches normally with HH-66 cement.
