About This Product

Coil lumber is a beveled hardwood block that sits under a steel coil alongside a coil rack, spreading the coil's weight evenly and giving equipment a place to slide a forklift blade or pry bar underneath for handling. This piece runs 4" x 4" and 4 feet long, with beveled edges on the leading end so it slides under a loaded coil instead of catching on the deck. The beveled shape matters most when a coil is already loaded and being repositioned, since a square edge tends to dig in rather than slide.

Coil lumber supports and positions the coil. It is not a securement device and carries no Working Load Limit, so it never replaces chain and a binder for actually holding the load down. Use it alongside a coil rack for coils, or under machinery and equipment on open-deck hauls that need a stable, even base. Hardwood construction holds up to repeated loading better than softwood without the weight or cost of steel dunnage, and it's easy to replace a single worn piece instead of an entire steel rack system.
